¡Destination: Exploration Stations!
Early Exposure to Spanish for Ages 4-10 years
Join us for an exploration of Spanish and a few Latin American countries! Native speaking teachers will immerse your child in Spanish while having a great time. Children will explore the nine different stations described below.
Airport
Children will experience going through "customs check" and having a passport photo taken! Passports will be used through the session. Proud travelers will take this souvenir with them to re-live the fun!
Music & Dance
Cultural education often starts with music and dance which exist in nearly every culture. Daily use of music with language enances learning and allows for practice while playing.
Food & Recipes
Colorful plates and sumptuous smells will have even timid tasters sampling foods of various countries! A nutrious snack will also tie into our session themes of country exploration.
Storytelling
Children will learn the traditional stories and fairy tales from the featured countries. Children (along with the teachers) will also get a chance to re-tell those stories through drama and TPRS (Total Physical Response Storytelling).
Water & Sand
Thematic play for this age would not be complete without playing in the water and sand! Rivers, lakes and oceans are a part of many Latin countries. Our hot summer months will find us cooling off with a splash.
Culture Station
Native speaking teachers will immerse students in the language of Spanish and celebrate the culture of the summer session countries. With props such as typical costumes and instruments, children learn through guided play activities.
Art & Artists
As children explore various art mediums, they will be exposed to several native Spanish artists as well. A chance at creative expression brings out the artist in all little hands!
Traditional Games
Children all over the world share the common love for playing games! We will learn some new ones and find we have some games in common with other cultures.
Park & Picnic
Our eight day exploration will culminate with a day in the park and picnic on the final Thursday! Teachers and children will take a walking field trip to a nearby park to play and eat their picnic lunch.
